Principal
Welcome Message
Hello Eagles! It is with real excitement that I welcome all our Mesa View Eagles back to school for the 2024-2025 school year. If you are new to Mesa, you will soon find that Mesa View has an enthusiastic and collaborative community of staff and parents. I have worked in Ocean View for the last six years, and four of those were as the Assistant Principal here at Mesa. I am thrilled to be coming back to Mesa View as we move forward to the next chapter for Mesa View—a modernized school site.
Students, you are the reason I come to work every day. Helping ensure all students find success, feel valued, and heard is my ultimate goal as an educator and truly encompasses all the work I do. As we plan to come back to our modernized school site, I look forward to working together with staff, students, and families in a collaborative effort as we continue the work of building students’ capacity for learning and growth.
When I came to Ocean View in 2018, I started by serving as the Assistant Principal of Mesa View Middle School and had a wonderful experience working with the staff and getting to know everyone at OVSD. I learned quickly that student learning is at the core of all that we do at OVSD and that relationships truly matter here. I have over two decades of experience as an educator, 18 years in the classroom as an elementary teacher and instructional learning coach in Cypress School District, four years serving as Assistant Principal here at Mesa View, and then these last two years as Principal at Spring View.
I value family, community, creativity, building and maintaining positive relationships, and life-long learning. A little more about me: I attended Cal State Long Beach, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Child Development. I earned my teaching credential and Master's Degree in Education from Whittier College. When I was ready to move into leadership, I was eager to find a district where achievement, connections, and results matter—OVSD has certainly fit the bill. I currently live in Long Beach with my husband and our 19-year-old son, Brayden, and our 18-year-old daughter, Makenzie. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, going camping, visiting the beach, and being crafty and artistic!
This year will undoubtedly come with surprises and unknowns along the way as we adjust to a new campus. I know that together we can accomplish anything. This community is strong, capable, and unstoppable. Let's make it a great year, Eagles!
