Principal
Welcome Back, Mesa View Eagles!
Hello Eagles! It's with immense excitement that I welcome all our Mesa View Eagles back for the 2025-2026 school year! If you're new to Mesa, you'll quickly discover that we have an enthusiastic and collaborative community of staff and parents. I've had the pleasure of working in Ocean View for the past eight years!
Students are the heart of Mesa View. My ultimate goal as an educator is to ensure every student finds success, feels valued, and knows their voice is heard. When I look into your eyes, I see greatness, and that belief truly encompasses all the work I do. I eagerly anticipate working alongside our dedicated staff, students, and families. Together, we'll continue fostering a love for learning and building each student's capacity for growth.
Reflecting on a Successful Year & Looking Ahead
The past school year, 2024-2025, was truly remarkable! We brought back cherished traditions and introduced exciting new initiatives that strengthened our school community. We were thrilled to reinstate our Awards Night, celebrating the incredible achievements of our students. Our Eagle Picnics proved to be a fantastic way to boost family engagement, bringing everyone together for fun and connection. And we proudly launched our inaugural Cultural Night, a vibrant celebration of the diverse backgrounds that make Mesa View so special.
As we look to 2025-2026, we are also incredibly excited to announce the launch of our new Dual Language Immersion program for Spanish! This program will provide an incredible opportunity for our students to develop fluency and literacy in both English and Spanish, fostering a deeper understanding of diverse cultures and preparing them for a globalized world. We believe this program will be a valuable addition to our already rich academic offerings.
A Little About Me
I began my journey in Ocean View in 2018 as the Assistant Principal of Mesa View Middle School, and it was a wonderful experience getting to know the staff and the entire OVSD community. I quickly learned that student learning is at the core of all we do here, and that strong relationships truly matter. With over two decades of experience as an educator, including 18 years as an elementary teacher and instructional learning coach in Cypress School District, four years as Assistant Principal at Mesa View, and the last three years as Principal here in Ocean View, I'm passionate about fostering a positive and enriching learning environment.
My values center around family, community, creativity, building and maintaining positive relationships, and lifelong learning. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Child Development from Cal State Long Beach, and my teaching credential and Master's Degree in Education from Whittier College. When I decided to move into leadership, I sought a district where achievement, connections, and results were paramount—OVSD has certainly exceeded my expectations. I currently live in Long Beach with my husband and our 20-year-old son, Brayden, and our 19-year-old daughter, Makenzie. In my free time, I love spending time with my family, camping, visiting the beach, and getting crafty and artistic!
This year will undoubtedly bring new discoveries with our exciting programs. I have no doubt that together, we can achieve anything. This community is strong, capable, and unstoppable. Let's make it another great year, Eagles!
